GeoLux EASY

The GeoLux EASY laser device is a simplified, classic (optical-mechanical) device for measuring the parameters of wheel toe-in and steering alignment for straight-line driving.

Standard equipment:

GeoLux EASY
  1. Left-hand measuring unit – 1 pc.
  2. Right-hand measuring unit – 1 pc.
  3. Centring scales with hangers – 2 pcs.
  4. Steering wheel lock – 1 pc.
  5. Rotating discs with base – 2 pcs.
  6. User manual – 1 pc.

Measurement range:

Total toe:–15 to +30 mm, -2° to +4°
Front wheel offset:0 to 50 mm

Principle of operation

Measuring vehicle wheel alignment using the GeoLux EASY instrument involves reading the horizontal angles from scales illuminated by low-energy laser beams located in the measuring units.

The basic requirement for obtaining accurate readings of horizontal angles (toe-in and toe-out) is that the wheel rims must be in perfect condition. They must not be damaged or bent. An additional requirement is that the arms of the measuring units must be positioned horizontally.

Thanks to this design, measuring toe-in whilst aligning the steering wheel for straight-ahead driving is very quick.

Construction of the front measuring unit

GeoLux EASY
  1. Transverse laser beam for measuring toe-in and front wheel offset.
  2. Longitudinal laser beam for aligning the front wheels relative to the rear wheels.
  3. Display screen with a scale for toe-in and wheel offset.
  4. Compartment for 4 x 1.5V AA batteries.
  5. Lock knob.
  6. Laser switch.

The left measuring head is a mirror image of the right-hand head.

Carrying out the wheel alignment measurement

GeoLux EASY

To ensure a correct measurement of wheel alignment, the car should be positioned on a surface that is level both transversely and longitudinally relative to the car’s axis.

The suspension, steering system and wheels should be brought to a fully serviceable condition before measuring the wheel alignment.

Fitting the device for measuring the front axle

GeoLux EASY

The measuring units on the front wheels and the centring scales on the rear wheels are fitted as shown in the diagram above.

GeoLux EASY

Fit the steering lock (after setting the steering wheel for straight-ahead driving).

Measuring the front axle parameters

Once the above steps have been completed, we can now read the toe-in values for the front axle, assuming that the rear axle thrust angle is zero.

GeoLux EASY

Adjust the front wheels so that the readings on the left and right centring scales for the rear wheels are the same (A = B). The front wheels are then in the straight-ahead position.

In this situation, the toe-in angles can be read directly, which is sufficient in most cases.

GeoLux EASY

If you wish to measure all four wheels, start the measurement from the rear axle and follow the operating instructions. The design of the device ensures that the rear axle thrust angle is taken into account when aligning the front wheels.

As a result, we obtain readings for all the necessary parameters and their adjustments required for excellent road handling.
